G.R.E.A.T. Program

The Ottawa Police Department’s Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program was implemented during the Fall of 2006.  The G.R.E.A.T. program reaches 6th grade students in Ottawa schools.  The program focuses on the harmful effects of gangs, violence and other destructive behaviors.  The G.R.E.A.T. program is a skills-based approach that address student’s attitudes and behaviors.  During the 13 week program students develop a positive relationship with their law enforcement officer/instructor.  Unique combinations of skills training, discussion and role playing activities enable students to learn the skills needed to avoid destructive decisions.

For more information concerning the Ottawa Police Department G.R.E.A.T. program, contact Officer Brenden Donahue at 815-433-2131.
