In an attempt to provide citizens of the City of Ottawa with the highest level of safety and security through the early notification of a pending crises and/or viable threats to the City and its residents, the City of Ottawa has secured the services of an emergency notification system provided by Global Connect Strategic Voice Messaging.

Using this system, messages containing valuable information can be transmitted to thousands of residents in a matter of minutes via land-line telephone, cellular telephone, email and text messages, and/or faxes.  Although a database of local land-line telephone numbers has been obtained from the telephone company, we are very aware that many Ottawa residents rely on their cellular telephones as the main form of communication.  However, these numbers are not readily available for us to import into the system.
