The City of Ottawa Fire Department is not currently accepting applications for firefighter. PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 13, 2010 The City of Ottawa Board of Fire and Police Commissioners has announced that pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, individuals applying for the entrance examination for fire fighters are required to have a valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) certificate, issued by the Southwest United Fire Districts Fire Training Academy or a substantially equivalent certificate from another qualified testing facility, at the time of the close of applications. Information on the CPAT can be found at www.sufd.org. The entrance examination for fire fighters will be scheduled in the spring, 2010. All applicants for a position with the fire department shall possess a valid EMT-B license issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health (“IDPH”) on the final date for submission of applications to the Board. In addition to the above requirements, persons appointed from the Final Eligibility roster for the fire department must possess a valid EMT-I license issued from the Illinois Department of Public Health (“IDPH”) at the time of appointment.
